Troy
Petty holds Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry Degrees and is a
certified Fellow of the American Association of Pastor Counselors (AAPC).
An ordained Baptist Minister, he has served for more than three decades
as pastor of three churches in South Carolina and Virginia.
Troy received his Master’s degree from
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor’s degree from
Union Theological Seminary in Virginia. While in Virginia churches,
he began pastoral counseling training at Medical College of Virginia and
the Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care. The training continued through
supervised clinical staff work with Pastoral Counseling Ministries of Virginia
leading to certification as a clinical Member of AAPC. Later through
Pastoral Counseling Associates, he was certified at the Fellow Level by
AAPC.
After taking early retirement from church
pastoral ministry, Troy joined the full time clinical staff of Center for
Pastoral Counseling of Virginia. Now in semi-retirement and living
near Charlottesville, Troy sees clients in the Charlottesville area office.
Troy is an EMDR trained therapist and has done extensive work with disassociative
disorder.
Troy is married to Virginia and they have
three children. Two live in California and one in Australia.
Their three grandchildren live in California.
Through years of specialized training while
in church ministry, Troy worked with all ages and most issues that people
experience. He works with individuals, couples, families and adolescents.
